Sawaraya

Aya Nail Atelier

Why is there a nail salon in a tourist spot in Katori City?
In fact, Katori City and "claws" have a deep connection! The "claws" of Katori City's great man, Ino Tadataka, are buried in Katori City. Among the many body parts, there are "claws"!
Having beautiful nails will lift your mood! Your hands are the part of your body you can see with your own eyes, not just through a mirror. Experimental results have shown that having nails improves work efficiency. Get your nails done and lift your spirits!
Even if you're not sure about nail salons for the first time, feel free to drop by while taking a walk around Sawara. This is a nail salon that offers nail care, gel nails, and more, and is open to a wide range of customers, not only tourists but also locals, regardless of gender or age.

Yamadaya Kimono Store

Town Kimono Rental TAWARAYA

I want to fill Katori and Sawara with people wearing kimonos.
We want people to feel more comfortable enjoying the historical townscape of Sawara in a kimono.
With this in mind, the Machimodoshi NPO, which took over the kimono rental business from a kimono store that was founded over 90 years ago, is restarting what it can do now.
You can enjoy wearing kimonos and yukatas according to the season, and professional staff will help you dress, so there is nothing you need to prepare in advance or any necessary tools. You can leave everything to us and rest assured that it will be a little luxurious accent for your little trip. There is no need to clean up or have it cleaned afterwards, so you can come to the store in your everyday clothes and experience wearing a kimono in your spare time.
Simple hair styling is also available (reservations recommended), so please use this service to complete your special, highly satisfying Sawara experience.

About Sawara Machiyakan (Kamikawagishi Park)

Katori City's tourist rest area, Kamikawagishi Small Park, opened in April in the Sawara district of Katori City, where merchant houses from the Edo and Meiji periods remain.
Located along the Onogawa River in the center of the Sawara area's Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, this townhouse-style building was constructed with a design that imitates traditional architecture.
Anyone can feel free to drop in and take a break while surrounded by the scent of wood, and enjoy touring the historical building from the inside.
The nickname has also been decided as "Sawara Machiyakan."
